Update
Fishy Cardboard Sculpture |
So It's been a couple of weeks since I first started University. I've already finished a couple of projects in my mixed media art class which.... isn't going so well. I've found out that i'm not very good at making 3D sculptures and that is was this class is mostly about. So here are the first 2 projects that I made. One had to be an animal made out of cardboard and in the other project we made our own paper and then had to incorperate it into a sculpture.
Paper Lamp Sculpture |
We are reading short stories in English right now like 'The Yellow Wallpaper,' and 'The Story of an hout,' which I find very interesting. I'm choosing to write my essay on 'The Story of an Hour.' I really like my English class and my teacher, I find the class very intersting. O but we also read this story called 'The Gospel according to Mark.' You have to read it in order to know what I am talking about. It is the most weird and disterbing short story that I have ever read. Ugh, ya, never read that story just before you are about to go to bed.
My business class is pretty good. I find it interesting but I'm not sure how well I'm doing in the course yet.
I'm making lots of friends here and it has been a really awesome experience so far. I never actually thought that I would make it to college. Not that I thought my grades weren't high enough; it's just that I never really wrapped my mind around it. College always seemed so far off and the people that went were always so old, they were adults lol. Now I'm an adult, though I don't really feel like one yet, and I'm in University which is pretty amazing.
Better go

Summer Before College
It's not that i'm terrified about going to college or even scared... well maybe a little, it's more that the summer before my first year of college is really quit stressful. I mean it's not just that you apply for college/University, get accepted and that's it. There is way more to it. For example you need to
1. sign up for courses and hope they aren't full (this I did sometime in like march so I don't have to worry about that too much now)
2. Since I want a job on campus I had to fill out a bunch of stuff for that and phone people and blah blah blah
3. I have to sign up for orientation
4. I have to pay 100 dollars to go to this stupid camp to get to know the rest of the first years (if it was free then fine but it's not and I already have no money as it is)
5. pack everything
6. get text books
It's also sort of stressful because I'm starting to realize that I'm an adult and as an adult I have to be a lot more independant, no more asking mom to buy some more shampoo. Also I have to take care of all these logistics that before I wouldn't of had to worry about because my parents would have taken care of it. I've realized that I really hate logistics. They are horrible and so confusing and hard to keep track of.
When going into highschool I was the one that picked out my courses but that's about it. My parents were the ones that enrolled me at the school and made sure everything was paid for and that I had all my school supplies that I needed. Now applying for college was totally different. I had to fill out all the paper work to apply for acceptance and then sign up for courses and make sure they fit in my schedule. It was a lot more confusing.
Being gone for a month of Summer break didn't help any either because though I was relaxed on my vacation, once I got back I saw all the emails and letters that I had gotten from my University and my stress level went way up
I hope that University will be great but so far it just seems like a lot of work and stress.

The Summer I turned Pretty
The Summer I turned Pretty, by Jenny Han is one of the best summer reads of all time! I can't say enough about this book. Unlike a lot of teen romance books that i've read, this book has a unique and truly real feel to it; it doesn't feel fake. From the first page on I was attached to the characters and found myself feeling like I actually knew them. Though this book might seem cheesy, and I'm probably making it out like it's cheesy, it's really not. It has an honesty to it that most books seem to lack and that's what makes it such an amazing read and impossible to put down. This book is perfect for sitting on the beach in the summer reading; as i'm writing this I can just see myself in my swimsuit, with the sun beating down on me and a slight breeze going with the sound of the waves ever present in the air, reading this book; it's the best book you could possibly read on summer vacation. I don't say this with a lot of books but this book I can see myself reading again and again, it's just that type of book. Usually once I've read a book I can't re-read it, even if it's a good book, just because I know what happens and so I don't find it fun to read any more. With this book however I've found that each time you re-read it you get something more out of it, and it doesn't matter if you know the end of the book because that's not what makes the book amazing. Really all you have to do is read it and you'll get what I mean. So ya, to sum this all up, read the book!

Grad Dress
So I ended up finding back the grad dress that I was looking at before but I found that it looked different and I didn't like it as much so i've been looking for a different grad dress which is really hard since I have such weird taste and no dresses are in my size. I'm serious! it is not fun being a size 0 when dresses only come in sizes 2 and up. Anyway so I found this really awesome dress that I want to get and it's in a size 0 and everything! I know, it doesn't look like your normal kind of grad dress but I love it, and I could wear it again too. As you can see I have weird taste. But it's nice cause I know that no one will have the same dress as me lol. So here it is, and ya it's pretty expensive $260, but considering i'm going to wear it again and most people are spending closer to 400 I think i'm doing ok.
